Those who engaged in idolatry are used to observing various forms of dos and don’ts. In the past, in certain communities, women must not eat salt and vegetable oil for seven days after giving birth. Some must climb up into the loft to give birth to their children. Free, indeed, were such women when they became Christians. But what a pity if they decide to continue to live in their bondage! Compare Galatians 4:8-10.
Notice the mutual love that initially existed between Paul and the Galatians (Galatians 4:14-15,19). Can you say that this is true of your church? A genuine demonstration of mutual love and care is a source of witness to unbelievers (John 13:34-35).
We should be concerned for people to whom we have witnessed and long to see that they grow in their love and knowledge of God. Paul so loved and cared for the Galatians that he was willing to labour in prayers until Christ is formed in them (Galatians 4:19). We ought to be that concerned for our immediate family, friends, government officials and all who need to have full knowledge of Christ.
Galatians 4:16 again. Do you appreciate friends who tell you the truth?
